Special Offering on Sunday, February 7
The Superbowl game can be a great reminder of people in need. This year, the high school seniors are collecting a special offering at the end of services to help children at local Children’s Homes go to camp. Please consider dropping at least a dollar in the SOUP bowl on your way out of worship this Sunday.

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

The Western North Carolina Conference is working with the United Methodist Committee on Relief and our conference churches with established ties within Haiti. To give online, go to www.wnccumc.org. Or you can send checks to “WNCC Treasurer,” Office of Mission/Outreach, P.O. Box 18005, Charlotte, NC 28218. Checks may also be made out directly to UMCOR. Memo any check: “Haiti quake relief.”

Haiti Health Kits
Note: As of Monday, January 25, we have collected 133 health kits for Haiti.
Thanks to all who continue to support this effort.

We are collecting health/emergency kits for the crisis in Haiti. If you would like to help, please collect all items and put inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag:

  • 1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27", no kitchen towels)
  • 1 washcloth
  • 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
  • 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
  • 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
  • 1 toothbrush (single adult brushes only in original wrapper)
  • 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages

NOTE: UMCOR is now purchasing toothpaste in bulk to be added to health kits before shipping to ensure that the product does not expire before it is sent. Please include $1 for each kit you send toward the purchase of toothpaste.)

    Important Kit Assembly Information

    • All items included in kits must be NEW items.
    • All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items - nothing more.
    • Do NOT include any personal notes, money or additional materials in the kits. These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.

Please bring your completed kits to the church office.
