MAGI Ministry

As the hands and feet of Christ on this earth, we are called to discover the gifts God so meticulously crafted in each of us. Our job as members of the body of Christ is to examine our gifts and use them faithfully. Our service is an act of worship to the glory of God.

The MAGI Ministry is designed to help you discover your spiritual gifts, identify your personal style, and realize the passion God has put in your heart for service. Yes, discovering what you are passionate about is part of the process.

Does God expect us to do this on our own? No! That is why the MAGI team researched and evaluated several different spiritual gifts programs. The result of this work is a program specifically designed to meet the needs of the members of St. Stephen. This ministry is one of exploration as well as discernment. As in all things, it cannot be accomplished apart from Him.

MAGI Program

The MAGI program is a holistic discovery process that assists every believer in finding their unique contribution in ministry. The three step process is more than just spiritual gift education:

Discovery Workshop
In this three session class, you will identify your God-given ‘Servant Profile’:

  • Spiritual Gifts – abilities God has given us – the what you will do when you serve
  • Personal Style – how you are wired
  • Passion – where you are best suited to serve

Connecting
A trained coach will give you guidance to areas of ministry that match your Servant Profile. This often affirms how you are already using your gifts or introduces you to other ministry areas that you never thought about becoming involved with.

Serving
Then, you are equipped to know how to use your gifts to serve in a place of ministry that is a match for who God has made you – a fruitful and fulfilling place!

FAQs

Who should participate in the MAGI Workshop?
You! The concept of spiritual gifts is introduced in the book of Ephesians by Paul. Often as members of the body of Christ we have not been presented with an opportunity to explore what spiritual gifts actually are and, consequently, have not been able to examine how we might best use ours. Some think if they can’t do what someone else can do, they are “gift-challenged.” This could not be further from the truth! The MAGI ministry is about exploration, helping you grow in your spiritual journey. Often through this discovery process you are re-energized or re-focused.

When can I take MAGI and how do I sign up?
Please see the quarterly workshop schedule. Class size is limited, so please sign up as early as possible. If you have a group of six or more people who are interested in taking the workshop together, we can make special arrangements.

Is the MAGI Ministry a job-filling process?
Absolutely not! You may find yourself affirmed in the area of service in which you are already involved. You might want to explore new areas in which to serve. You might have a passion to start a new ministry. In any case, the MAGI Team is here to provide resources for you to make the decision that’s right between you and God. The intent of the MAGI Ministry is to help you identify where God has uniquely gifted you to serve; it is not a pressure tactic to get you to do a ministry. When you discover what God has gifted you to do, you’ll be energized about how you might use them. Regardless, no one is going to push you to sign up for 30 things or back you into a corner – it’s all about exploring our options in service to God. In fact, you may be encouraged to step back from one ministry area and spend your time in another area that more closely matches your gifts. You may find this brings more focus and order to your life.

Is there a fee to register?
There is no monetary cost in taking the MAGI workshop. But the benefits are out of this world — Heavenly!

What if I can only come to two classes?
It is very important that you attend all three scheduled sessions of the workshop you choose. Of course, we understand that sometimes there are unplanned circumstances, but we ask you to try to choose workshop dates that will allow you to attend all three in the same course.
If you can make week 1 & 2 work, but have a conflict with week 3, the MAGI team can help you make-up session 3 at our next offering.

Is childcare provided?
Yes, if you request it in advance when you register.
