Adult Classes and Ministries
Note: Classes will not meet February 6 (Ash Wednesday).

The New Testament January 9 - March 12 (9 weeks)
During these four sessions we will use selected 30-minute DVD lectures by Professor Bart Ehrman, Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill, followed by 30-minute discussion sessions, led by Bill Cole. Resource materials will be provided, and the class will have opportunity to choose among various topics following the opening session. 6:30–7:30pm, Rm 36

Bible Study: I John January 9 - 30 (4 weeks)
The physical, human Jesus is identified with the divine Son of God in I John. Further, John insists that one cannot truly believe in Christ without truly and selflessly loving others. Join us for a time of looking at this short but powerful book that challenges today’s Christian to consider the ways we stray from our teaching and lose our way to love. Led by Luci Blizzard. 6:30–7:30pm, Rm TBA

Disciple I September 12 - May 21 (34 weeks)
Disciple I: Becoming Disciples through Bible Study continues its 34 week study led by Don Irwin and Alan Thalinger. 6:30–9pm, Rm 31

Journey Through Grief January 9 - February 27 (6 weeks)
This grief support group will enable participants to reflect upon where they are in the journey of grief, aid in building the necessary support for the journey and enable healing during the six weeks we spend together. Facilitated by Richard Randolph. 6:30–8pm, Rm 20 (Sr. Pastor’s office)

Wednesday Word January 9 - March 12 (9 weeks)
The purpose of Wednesday Word is to glorify God through the spoken Word and to provide an opportunity to discover anew His constant presence in our lives. The class leader will read from the Holy Bible, beginning with Genesis chapter 1-11 and move through the Old and New Testaments. At 7 pm the Scripture reading will end and those who wish to pray or mediate on the Word are welcome to stay. The class leader will be available for discussion. Led by Cary Simms. 6:30–7:30pm, Chapel

Beginning Handbell Class January 9 - March 12 (9 weeks)
If you have had music experience in the past (or not) – you can ring handbells. Come join Alan Alsop and find the fun of ringing English handbells. We will start with the techniques of ringing and progress from there. We can accommodate up to 12 ringers. Contact Alan Alsop at 704-366-0071 or alsop.al@pg.com. 6:45–7:30pm, Rm 6

Lenten Study: Behold the Man February 13 - March 12 (5 weeks)
This 5-week study will be led by Steve Morris and will include sessions on “Behold the Man who is tempted as we are” and “Behold the Man who takes away the sins of the world.” 6:30–7:30pm, Rm 27

Stitch-In
A weekly fellowship of crocheting and knitting, this group provides teaching for beginners and creates prayer shawls for pastoral care needs. 6:30-8:30pm, Rm 32

Bridge Fellowship
Bridge tables and cards will be available weekly for pick-up bridge games. Join in on the fellowship! 6:30–8pm, Rm 209

Praise Band
The Praise Band provides instrumental and/or vocal talents for the Sunday morning modern worship service. Rehearsals are each Wednesday from 6:30-9pm. Rm 8/9

Children
Childcare for infants through 5th grade will be provided in Room 47 in the children’s wing from 5-7:30pm. If there are enough children ages 5 through 5th grade, an activity will be planned.
