SMALL GROUP STUDIES
|
|
 |
|
This annual Bible study, aimed at transformation -- not just information -- begins in September.
|
The Disciple Bible Study program is designed to develop strong Christian leaders in local churches through the in-depth study of Scripture. In small groups (of no more than 12, no less than 8), participants will be strengthened in faith and guided into service and ministry. Disciple participation requires the commitment to pray, study, and share insights and ideas in a weekly class.
Disciple I, Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study
A 34 week study designed to give an overview of the entire Bible.
Disciple II, Into the Word, Into the World
A 32 week study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts.
Disciple III, Remember Who You Are
A 32 week study of the prophets and the letters of Paul
Disciple IV, Under the Tree of Life
A 32 week study of the Old Testament Writings (Psalms, Proverbs, Job, etc.), the Gospel of John; 1, 2,3 John; James; Jude and Revelation.
After completing Disciple I, you may choose either Disciple II, III, or IV.

Companions in Christ is a powerfully transforming small-group experience that builds spiritual practices within congregations, helping participants open more fully to God and to one another. This 28-week spiritual journey will draw you into daily time with God through individual reading and reflection, and will gather you weekly with others in your faith community for deeper exploration.
The Way of Forgiveness focuses on one of the most difficult of the Christian commands: forgiveness. Based on Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, this study includes 8 weeks of readings and exercises about shame, guilt, anger, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
The Way of Blessedness invites readers in a 9 week study to cultivate the dispositions of the soul, as outlined in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, which suit us for the reign of God while drawing us into its realm.

This thirty-week study of the classical doctrines of the Christian faith aims at presenting, explaining, and interpreting Christian doctrine as the basic teaching of the church to the end that informed believing leads to committed discipleship.
CHRISTIAN BELIEVER integrates Bible study and the teachings at the heart of Christianity. These doctrines and traditions are rooted in Scripture. The starting point is clearly biblical, and daily reading of assigned Scripture is part of the preparation participants make for each weekly session.

Our Mission
The mission of St. Stephen United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We welcome guests into our church, share with them the good news of Jesus Christ, prepare people for ministry, and send forth persons into mission in the world.
