We are privileged to serve the living God. We count it a responsibility and an honor to serve others as Jesus Christ served us. At St. Stephen, there are many opportunities for you to use your gifts to reach others.

Local Missions

We have helped build nearly twenty Habitat for Humanity homes, and every weekend during the winter we host the Room in the Inn ministry for the homeless. We have been the largest financial contributor to the annual CROP Walk against hunger. Other local missions we support with our time and our donations include Bethlehem Center, Charlotte Crisis Assistance, Women and Children’s Shelter (Center of Hope), Friendship Trays, Salvation Army Shelter, Loaves and Fishes, and we have a quarterly Red Cross Blood Drive.

In 2011, St. Stephen began a partnership with Greenway Park Elementary School on Monroe Road. This partnership offers the congregation opportunities to become involved in the academic lives of children. Throughout the year, volunteers are needed to mentor/tutor children, help with PTA events, and other activities with and for the school. We also collect needed items for the children and for the staff. Contact Melissa Lamm at for details.

National and Global Missions

Beyond our local area, each year we send youth and adults on mission work teams to other states in our region. While these trips are geared for our youth, we need adults to participate as well. See our Youth Missions pages for more details. With our budget, we support global missions through our denomination. Our money supports outreach projects, schools and colleges, social justice programs and other missions throughout the county, state, nation, and world. Over 30% of our budget supports missions.
