BEDDING SETUP AND BREAKDOWN

PM:
Arrive at church no later than 5:30pm and set-up bedding for Guests by 6pm. (This can also be done earlier in the day if you prefer AND you check with the church to make sure the Fireside Room is not scheduled to be used prior to that evening).
  1. Arrange cots, tables, and chairs (located in the large storage closet – double doors) according to the floor plan* and make beds. Use two sheets located in the RITI supply closet for each bed and a pillowcase over each pillow. Please make sure that you use only the pillows with zippered plastic covers on them. Fold blankets and leave at the foot of each bed. Place a chair next to each cot.

  2. After moving out the cots, tables, and chairs, roll the hockey and foosball table located in the Fireside Room into the emptied storage closet for the night.

  3. Place toiletries (found in the RITI supply closet) out on the table for distribution - at least 10 of each item. Toiletries include toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, razor + a pack of tissues and lotion, if available. Use the pre-prepared ziploc packets contained in the supply closet.

  4. On the toiletries table, set out a stack of 10 towels and 10 washcloths for Guests to use if they want to shower. Note: In the past, we asked that towels be placed on the chair next to each cot. However, in order to minimize laundry expenses, we are changing the procedure to make it easier to determine if towels are clean or dirty.

  5. Place the men's and women's toiletry baskets (from the RITI supply closet) inside each restroom near the sinks.

  6. If there are extra clean linens delivered by the cleaner that have not been placed in the storage containers in the RITI supply closet, please do so.

  7. Ensure that a TV has been moved to the Fireside Room and placed to the right of the fireplace for the night. Place the video collection box from the RITI supply closet near the TV.

  8. Make sure Bibles and devotionals are available for Guests.

  9. Feel free to make it a family affair and stay for dinner.

AM:
Arrive at church between 7– 7:15am.

  1. Before collecting dirty linen and cleaning up, please put on a pair of disposable gloves (found in the RITI supply closet).

  2. Collect used linens and towels (check bathrooms for any) into 2-3 large plastic bags (located on top of the refrigerator in the kitchen). The dirty laundry should be placed in the closet where we store the cots for Monday pickup by the cleaners.

  3. Try not to put clean sheets and towels in the bags – place clean linens in bins in the Youth supply closet. Blankets are not washed each week, so unless one is dirty, please fold blankets and return them to the bins.

  4. After cots are stripped of used linens, spray each with Lysol found in the RITI supply closet. Also spray each of the plastic covered pillows before placing them back in the RITI supply closet. On Saturday mornings in December and Sunday mornings in January-March, stack cots in the Fireside Room closet according to the floor plan schematic.* Guests can assist.

  5. You are encouraged to remain and eat breakfast with the Guests and other St. Stephen members until the Guests leave at 7:45am.

  6. After Guests have departed, continue to help with clean up.

  7. Make sure the bathroom counters are wiped off and extra soap and shampoo are discarded.

  8. Return the toiletry baskets from each bathroom to the Youth supply closet.

  9. Roll the hockey and foosball table back into the Fireside Room.

  10. Vacuum the carpet as needed.

*The floor plan for layout of cots and storage method is shown on the inside of the RITI storage closet.
