I was talking with some other moms at the Craft Festival this morning at church about how much my children enjoy Wednesday nights at St. Stephen. As you may have found of interest, I'm currently listed as one of the children's choir assistants. This is a funny fact if you know of my admitted lack of musical talent. My own children have a better word for my roll. They simply call me the "Choir Bouncer". They do have such a sense of humor!
It wasn't until I became "The Bouncer" that I sat in on the Wednesday evening choir with kids. It's always been staffed by talented volunteers and I only needed to get the kids to church on time on Wednesdays and then on Sundays to sing.
I have been absolutely blown away with the quality of music instruction going on in these children's classes! I knew they sound great in church, but never did I know or appreciate all the work these teachers do with my children. They work on posture, rhytmns, notes, pronounciations, breathing, reading music, etc. I now know why my children are so bored with the music instruction they receive in public schools - it simply doesn't compare!
While I think that other parents would have similar feelings about this program were they to "Bounce", I understand that that idea would cause incredible distraction to the teachers and the children. So on behalf of all the parents who don't "bounce", I wanted to pass along praise for our talented and devoted staff who work with these kids tirelessly. I also wanted to let you know how very happy I am as well that all this occurs at our church where we want our children developing into the young people they will become.
Most Sincerely,
Elizabeth Barger
