Charlotte’s Haunted Future: Walking Tour

April 13 10:00 am - 12:00 pm  |  Trade & Tryon Streets, Uptown Charlotte

Trade and Tryon Streets, North Tryon Street, Second Ward, Charlotte, NC, USA

Join the St. Stephen Open Doors Team for a walking tour with Greg Jarrell, author of Our Trespasses: White Churches and the Taking of American Neighborhoods, a recently published book that uncovers how race, geography, policy, and religion have created haunted landscapes in Charlotte, North Carolina, and throughout the United States.

Jarrell’s Uptown walk helps participants examine the stories of exclusions and invisibilities that have been built into the cityscape of Charlotte. During the 3-mile, approximately 2-hour walk through Uptown Charlotte, you’ll look for what is present and what is not present, hoping to see more clearly into the past and the future of the Queen City.

The walking tour registration cost is $15 per person. Limited space is available (30 participants). Register now!

Walking tour participants will meet at 10am at Trade & Tryon Streets in Uptown Charlotte. Additional details will be sent following registration.

(You are also invited to join us on Wednesday, April 17, 6:30pm, for a book talk with Greg. The book talk is free. Click here for additional event details.)
