Meet the Staff

Daniel Bader

Director of Communications

Daniel is an award-winning journalist and worked for nearly a decade at various newspapers in New York City and in Upstate New York. He's an avid baseball fan (Let's go Mets), drives vintage Volkswagens on the weekends and absolutely refuses to let someone else fix his cars.

Nancy Baum

Program Secretary

The Program Secretary supports the youth, music, and children’s programming staff; keeps track of event registrations and payments; handles church room and vehicle reservations and general office supply ordering; and answers or redirects some of the many inquiries that come into the office daily. Nancy has worked as a librarian; IBM Assembly Language programmer; and a homemaker, mother, and volunteer. She has been at St. Stephen since 2003. Nancy and her husband Bill have two adult children. One is a high school physics teacher and one works in college admissions. Bill is retired. He keeps Nancy sane and laughing!

Dr. John Blizzard

Minister of Music

John has served as Minister of Music at St. Stephen for the past fourteen years. He has served churches in Texas (where he went to seminary) and North Carolina (where he has lived for almost 30 years). John and his wife Luci, a retired United Methodist pastor, have two grown girls, Jennifer and Michelle, four grandchildren, and one dog, Jackson. Fun fact! He is also a hospital chaplaincy student and avid cyclist.

Cari Fayed

Director of Preschool

Cari Fayed joined the Preschool Staff of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in 2009. While working at the Preschool, Cari has taught in the “Fours” and “TK” classes, before assuming the position of Director in 2014. Cari attended Virginia Tech where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. After deciding to leave the corporate world she decided to pursue a job in education. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Marymount University. Before coming to St. Stephen, she taught in elementary schools in both Virginia and North Carolina. Cari and her husband Scott have three children, Sophia, Ellis, and Dolan, all of which attended St. Stephen United Methodist Church Preschool. Cari enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, but most of all, spending time with her family.



Rev. Melissa Lamm

Minister of Children & Families

Melissa has served as the Minister of Children and Families at St. Stephen since 2011. She coordinates programs for children birth through 5th grade, leads our preteen program for 4th and 5th graders, leads in worship, preaches when needed, and coordinates our partnership with Greenway Park Elementary School. Prior to coming to St. Stephen, Melissa served as a Chaplain for Carolinas Medical Center for 6 years, and prior to that as the Associate Pastor at Greystone Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC for 5½ years. She earned a BA from Meredith College, her Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School, and is an ordained Baptist minister. She and her husband, Ashley, have two children, Isaac and Sara Kate, and one dog, Amelia. For fun she and her family love to go camping!

Julia Lathan

Director of Music for Children & Youth

As Director of Music for Children and Youth, Julia coordinates a music program including 3 children's choirs, children's chimes, a youth choir,2 youth handbell choirs and the annual Children's Choir Camp. She also teaches chorus in the public schools, currently at Randolph IB Middle School. She holds the BM and MM degrees from UNCG in choral music. She is the proud mom of Bennett, 12, and Reid, 9, and loves working in the yard and relaxing with friends on the porch!

Dr. Michael Lehtinen


Michael plays the organ and piano for the traditional service, and accompanies the adult, youth, and children’s choirs. He also plays for special events, such as the Christmas Pageant, the children’s summer music camp presentation, and weddings and funerals. Occasionally, Michael assists John Blizzard with directing the adult choir. Having grown up Lutheran in Minnesota, Michael began playing the organ for services in 1973. Since then, he has played for several different denominations. He began playing for St. Stephen in 2003. While serving St. Stephen, he has been happy to learn more about the Methodist tradition. Michael lives with his partner, Larry, who is also a musician. Their cat, Kissa (Finnish for ‘cat’), is the real ruler of the house!

Sally Probst

Financial Director

Sally has an accounting degree from Indiana University and worked for Dow Chemical and Bank of America before having children. She and her husband, Geoff, have two adult boys, Max and Sam. Her family attends Matthews Presbyterian Church. In her free time, Sally likes to cook, play tennis, ride bikes, and watch athletic events, especially the Carolina Panthers and Indiana University basketball.



Sue Prudhomme

Membership Secretary and Senior Pastor's Administrative Assistant

When you come to the office, the first person you will see is Sue. She came to St. Stephen in 1994 after working as the assistant to the President at The Sisters of Mercy, Inc. in Belmont. Now being the assistant to the Senior pastor, she helps with the coordination of baptisms, funerals, Charge Conference, new member orientation and worship needs (lay liturgists, scripture readers, greeters, flowers, etc.) Her job also entails being the Membership Secretary, where she records data and handles procedures for members and visitors. You will also see Sue training volunteers to answer phones and finalize mailings. Sue and her husband Jim are both from Atlanta but have lived in Charlotte since 1984. They have 3 grown children, 5 grandchildren, and 1 dog (for the moment). They are huge NC State fans and enjoy travelling and visiting family. Sue is a huge animal lover and is passionate about advocating for laws for their humane treatment.

Richard Ramsey

Contemporary Worship Leader

Richard has led worship in a Methodist Church, Sardis Presbyterian Church (Charlotte), and, most recently, Life Journey Church in Indianapolis (Minister of Worship Arts). He is from Black Mountain, NC where his parents now reside. Richard has a B.A. degree in Music Business from Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. He has been on several tours with Christian recording artist Sandi Patty and has held positions at several high schools as performing arts instructional assistant and choral and theater accompanist. He has also been a radio broadcaster as morning show personality, on-air announcer and producer.


Pamela Revak

Director of Youth Ministries

Pamela is a native of Raleigh, graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and has had a career in youth ministries that has taken her all over North Carolina and to Illinois. She lives near St. Stephen with Piper, her German shepherd.
