Big Questions Kids Ask: Is God Good?
Ken Curtis   -

This Sunday, we continue our back-to-school worship series, Big Questions Kids Ask! Today, we’re exploring the goodness of God. Why do bad things happen if God is good all the time? We tackle one of the biggest faith questions through biblical examples, exploring themes of free will, human responsibility, and the ways God works through our brokenness. God doesn’t cause evil, but enters into our pain to bring something good from it.

Sermon Reflections:

  • Think about a time when you questioned whether “God is good all the time.” How did that experience challenge or strengthen your faith, and what helped you through that season?
  • Much of our suffering comes from the choices we and others make. How do you balance personal responsibility with trusting in God’s sovereignty when facing the consequences of difficult decisions?
  • God doesn’t cause bad things but enters into our pain to bring something good out of it. Can you identify a situation in your life where you’ve seen something good emerge from a painful experience?
  • How comfortable are you with bringing your honest doubts and complaints to God in prayer?
  • How do you recognize God’s presence during your darkest moments, and what does it mean to you that God grieves with us?
  • It is impossible for us to answer every “why” question about suffering. How do you build faith on what you do know when there are still things about God and life that you don’t understand?
