Big Questions Kids Ask: Is There a God?
Ken Curtis   -

We’re kicking off our back-to-school worship series, exploring some of the Big Questions Kids Ask!ย The questions kids ask openly are very often some of the same questions us adults are all wondering, too. Letโ€™s explore the answers together! In this first installment, Pastor Ken leads us to explore a fundamental question: Is There a God? We look at Genesis, the Psalms, and Paul’s letter to the Romans to help us understand how God is revealed throughout creation, in the presence of our conscience and moral compass, and, ultimately, through the person of Christ.

Sermon Reflections:

  • Pastor Ken explains that he can only speak from his own conviction and experiences with God. How would you describe your personal experiences that either strengthen or challenge your belief in God’s existence?
  • When you look at the natural world, what thoughts or feelings does it evoke about a possible Creator? Do you see design or randomness?
  • Pastor Ken suggests our moral compass points to being created in God’s image. Reflect on your sense of right and wrong. Where do you think this inner sense of justice and meaning comes from?
  • Questions and doubts are always okay and even welcomed. What honest questions or doubts do you have about God’s existence, and how might these struggles actually be part of a healthy faith journey?
  • Jesus shows us the clearest picture of who God is. If you were to examine Jesus’ life, teachings, and character, what does this reveal to you about the nature of God?
  • How might understanding these three evidences (creation, conscience, Christ) help you have more meaningful conversations with friends or family members who are agnostic, atheist, or questioning God’s existence?
