Sacred Earth / Sacred Trust
St. Stephen Summer Study Series
July-August 2025
“God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.” — Genesis 1:31
Join St. Stephen as we consolidate our adult Sunday small groups and classes for our annual congregation-wide Summer Study Series! This year, we explore the sacred trust we have been given as people made in God’s image to tend and care for God’s “very good” creation. Guest speakers will help us practically understand a variety of ways we can be better shepherds and stewards of the earth. We’ll also learn and discuss the theological bedrock on which our care and concern for the earth’s beauty is based.
Begins Sunday, July 13, 10am, in the gym, followed on July 20, Aug. 3, and Aug. 10.
Guest speakers / topics to include:
- July 13 — Rev. Jonathan Brake, Eco-Missions and Creation Care Coordinator for the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church
- July 20 — Presentation from Amy Aussieker from Envision Charlotte and their project the Innovation Barn
- July 27 — Skip — Children’s Choir Camp Day
- Aug. 3 — St. Stephen member Mark Casper will present on his UMC Earthkeepers Ministry project
- Aug. 10 — Recorded remarks on “Faith and the Future of Creation” from Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, delivered at the 2025 Lausanne Conference.
