Faith and Practice

Room 32

Feb 1 - ACTION SUNDAY! Making sandwiches for the Sandwich Ministry – Meet in the Main Kitchen

For the remainder of February, we will continue Max Lucado’s series Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World, based on Philippians 4:4-8. It is not God’s will for us to lead a life of perpetual anxiety, so let’s learn about how to step out of a life run by anxiety and step into His presence – a life ruled by peace. Each class can stand alone, so jump in at any time!
Feb 8 - “Present Your Requests to God.”
Feb 15 - “The Peace of God Will Guard Your Heart.”
Feb 22 - “Meditate on These Things.”

Foundations

Youth Café

In February, we will continue our study of Amy-Jill Levine’s Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi – A Scholarly Reinterpretation Connecting Jewish Scripture to Modern Faith.
Feb 1 – The Pearl of Great Price
Feb 8 – The Mustard Seed
Feb 15 – The Laborers in the Field
Feb 22 – The Widow and the Judge. Each class can stand alone.

Journey

Room 30

We will conclude our study of Wine in the Word Bible Study: Why God Gave Us the Gift of Wine in February. Wine is one the most celebrated gifts and blessings from God. It is also the most talked about food in the Bible. But have we neglected this important biblical theme and fragrant gift from God? Gisela Kreglinger and Randy Frazee invite us into an exploration of wine's place in the Bible, in the history of the church, and in the church's feasting and fellowship today.

Joy

Room 33

Feb 1, 8 and 15 – We conclude a 6-week study of Adam Hamilton’s Why Did Jesus Have to Die: The Meaning of the Crucifixion. The New Testament writers use a host of metaphors―ransom, sacrifice, reconciliation, victory―but never explain exactly why it had to happen this way. What if that’s because we’ve been asking the wrong question? What if the cross isn’t a transaction to be explained, but a living Word from God meant to transform who we are and how we live?
Feb 22 – Love Does: Discover a Secretly Incredible Life in an Ordinary World by Bob Goff. What if you decide to simply DO love?

Life

Room 18

Feb 1 – We will view and discuss an Andy Stanley video. Rev. Stanley is an American clergyman who is the founder and senior pastor of North Point Ministries, a nondenominational evangelical Christian church with several campuses across the north metro Atlanta area.
Feb 8 and 15 – Beth Bohn will lead us in two inspiring and thought- provoking sessions.
Feb 22 – We will view and discuss another Andy Stanley video.

Pathways

Room 27

Feb 1 – The final session of Wrestling with Doubt, Finding Faith by Adam Hamilton. Hamilton discusses some of our most significant sources of doubt and shows how a steady trust in God can emerge from them.
Feb 8 and 15 – We will again look at Rev. Jody Seymour’s book, For God’s Sake Pay Attention: Realizing Life While We Live It: Poems and Reflections about the Journey. Seymour explores themes of the natural world, life and faith, Scripture, and the church seasons, offering the opportunity to ponder them in a new way.
Feb 22 – We will begin a Lenten study.

Step by Step

Room 101

In February, the class will study continue our study of The New Testament You Never Knew: Exploring the Context, Purpose, and Meaning of the Story of God by N.T. Wright and Michael Bird. These well-known Bible scholars team up to take you on a tour of the explosive story behind the New Testament. We will discover things we never knew, including how the transforming mission of Jesus can still turn the world upside down today. There are 8 sessions, concluding in March; each can stand alone.

Unity

Room 34

In February, the class will continue our study using lessons from The Wired Word. News is inevitable - whether it be good or bad - but what better way to extract hope from this input is to juxtapose Bible verses as tools to persevere and navigate our daily walk in Christian faith. Each week will feature a different topic and can stand alone.
