Modern Worship at St. Stephen

New experience begins Sept. 17

Modern worship service held each week at 10:30am in the Youth Ministry Center

Experience a New Spirit Moving

St. Stephen's modern worship is more like a return to the familiar than something brand new. Prior to COVID, St. Stephen regularly hosted two worship services each week — our traditional service and a more modern service. Experience a new spirit moving at St. Stephen starting Sunday, Sept. 17, as we explore new and refreshing ways to worship God.

What to Expect

How is this service different from the 9:30am service?

Our 9:30am service is more traditional. It meets in our sanctuary and includes a more formal time of prayer and order of service, including an organ and choir, and sung hymns. This 10:30am modern service is far more relaxed, featuring music with a more modern style and a small band.

Where is the modern service held?

Our modern service is held in the Youth Ministry Center, a large gathering space designed for relaxed worship experiences. The Youth Ministry Center is most easily accessible off Lutomma Circle, the small street next to our church. Turn off Sardis Road onto Lutomma Circle and turn into our back parking lot for the closest parking. You can also park in our front parking lot. Greeters will be waiting to say hello at our main and front entrances and would be more than happy to walk you down to the Youth Ministry Center.

Do you offer small groups or Sunday School?

Our new modern service is being held during our usual small group/Sunday School hour during this initial soft-launch phase. We’re using this time to experiment with and grow this new service. Instead of small groups, we encourage you to come early for Gather, a time of relaxed conversation, coffee, and connection. Gather is held in the small café adjacent to the Youth Ministry Center. Drop-in anytime starting at 9:30am each Sunday.

Is childcare provided? What about Sunday School and small groups for children and youth?

Nursery for ages 0-2 is available, with Sunday School available for children ages 3 and up. We encourage your older middle and high school youth to join us in modern worship or join our middle/high school Sundays with Youth small group, whichever makes them most comfortable. Ask one of our greeters to help you find your way to our Sunday School and small group classrooms.

How should I dress?

Come as you are! Yes! Seriously. Want to wear a three-piece suit? Go for it. But you’ll more likely find folks dressed in T-shirts or polos, jeans, and casual dresses.
